PRACTICAL INFORMATION

PLANE TICKETS

Plane tickets are not included in the price. You are responsible for booking your own plane tickets. You can read which flight we will take under the description of the individual trip.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

You are not covered by the Danish yellow or European blue health insurance cards. We therefore recommend that you take out a travel insurance.

HYGIENE AND VACCINATIONS

You may need to use toilets that are primitive and without toilet paper. It is therefore a good idea to bring your own hand sanitiser and paper towels. We also recommend that you get vaccinated against diphtheria-tetanus and hepatitis A before leaving Denmark.

PASSPORT AND VISA

As a Danish citizen, you can travel in Morocco without a visa for a maximum of 90 days. Your passport must be valid for 6 months beyond your stay. If you are not a Danish citizen, we recommend that you contact the Moroccan embassy.

DRINKING WATER

You cannot drink water from the taps. You need to buy bottled water.

FOOD

Prices in Morocco are low compared to Denmark. You can eat lunch for approx. DKK 50 pr. day and dinner for approx. DKK 80 per day.

Gratuity

It is normal to give tips in Morocco. When you eat at a cafe or restaurant it is normal to give a 10% tip. It is also normal to give tips to a driver (not taxi drivers).

WEATHER

During winter, the weather is like an average Danish summer. It is cold in the evening, so remember to bring a jacket.

WI-FI AND TELEPHONE

Since Morocco is located outside the EU, it is expensive to use your phone. You can call/be online via the hotel’s wi-fi, but we suggest that you buy a local calling card if you need to make calls or be online outside the hotel.

CURRENCY

The currency in Morocco is called Dirham (MAD). MAD 1 is approx. DKK 0.70 DKK, while DKK 1 is approx. MAD 1.44 (exchange rate as at August 2019). You cannot exchange at home, and you are not allowed to take currency out of the country when you leave. You can get MAD on both MasterCard and Visa card from the ATMs at the airport and in the city. You can also find exchange agencies at the airport. Large shops and hotels accept credit cards, while most small shops, stalls, cafes, etc. only accept MAD.
